Importance of Pellet Mill Maintenance

As a key equipment in the pellet manufacturing process, the pellet mill directly affects the economic benefit of a pellet plant. Only under proper operation and good maintenance can a pellet mill produce high quality pellets and keep its service life as long as possible.

Proper operation and good maintenance for the pellet mill will not only minimize the risk of mechanical failure, extend the machine and its parts’ service life, but also increase benefits it can produce for the enterprise from a long-term point of view.

How to Use and Maintain Pellet Mill Properly?

1. Lubricating oil should be added in the transmission parts regularly. All the transmission parts will need to be lubricated from time to time if they are going to keep a long service time.
2. The lubricating oil of the gearbox should be renewed regularly to prevent mechanical failure and damage. It is also helpful to extend its service life.
3. The pellet machine spare parts are required to be inspected once per month, including roller, die, gear and bearings. The connection between parts should also be checked in case any of them is loose.
4. Overload production is prohibited. Keeping the machine working under overloading will damage both the reduction gear and the motor greatly, so this situation should be avoided at best. And if this does happen, the broken parts should be repaired or replaced immediately.  
5. Every time after the pellet machine has been used, the roller should be removed from the machine and carefully washed. It can be installed back after the cleaning to get ready for the next use. If the pellet machine will not be used in a regular time, you should make sure that the pellet mill is well-preserved. You should clean the pellet machine thoroughly, coat the surface with antirust oil, then cover it with tarpaulin, and store the machine in a clean and dry place.
6. Before you starting to use the pellet mill, please carefully read the product guidebook and the operation instructions first. If any malfunction should happen, you must immediately shut down the machine and inspect it.

Pellet Mill Motor Maintenance

The maintenance of the machine’s motor is also a vital part in pellet mill maintenance. Proper maintenance of the motor can improve the producing efficiency of the pellet plant and reduce the possibility of mechanical accident happening. The right way to check and maintain the motor of a pellet mill is as follows:

• The sound and the vibration situation of the working motor should be paid attention to. The sound of a healthy motor can be varied significantly from the sound of an abnormal one. The operator will need to check and repair the motor immediately if the motor shows any sign of malfunction.
• A good working environment for the main motor and the control module should be maintained. Keep the pellet mill working in a dry and antirust environment can prevent electric leakage and extend its service life.
• Deratization of the pellet mill’s working place is also necessary. The mice may get the wire gnawed and influence the working condition of the pellet mill.
